New to Dance Access Day this year, an annual field-trip destination for students in downtown Oakland, AXIS will be offering a family matinee on Saturday, February 9th. This revamped youth performance will incorporate increased accessibility components and the ever-popular interactive component of AXIS' youth programming. Audiences will leave empowered with the message that difference is what makes us powerful.
The following accessibility services will be provided:
Pre-Show Touch Tour (1 pm -1:30 pm): Designed for people with visual impairments or who are blind and others interested in an inside experience, this tour provides participants with an intimate and up close tactile experience to feel and engage with the space, artists, props, costumes and set up of the stage. Participants will learn more about the works and the movement language that will inform and enlighten their performance experience with an opportunity to answer any questions.
