In Amy Foley's dynamic class, students progress from center work focused on alignment and warming the body to moving through space with precision and volume. Special emphasis is put on nuance, movement musicality and quick vs. suspended kinetic qualities. Amy attempts to give her students the tools with which to challenge themselves in order to dance with efficiency, power and joy.

Originally from Alaska, Amy Foley is a long-time, active member of the San Francisco Bay Area dance community, having danced with Robert Moses' Kin for over a decade, and as a member of ODC/Dance, Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Project Agora, Mary Carbonara Dances, Shift Physical Theater, Project B., RAWdance, KAMBARA+DANCERS, and with choreographer Nol Simonse. Foley teaches nationally and on faculty at ODC Dance,  Alonzo King’s LINES Dance Center and Ruth Asawa School of the Arts High School. Through Bellwether Dance Project, she collaborates with dancers and artists to delve into the ways individuals, particularly those identifying as women and girls, make meaning. Foley is the co-creator of SEAM (Support and Elevate Artist Mothers), a concert and programming in support of women’s leadership in the dance field. She was a 2017 Lead Artist in the Resident Artist Workshop (RAW) at SAFEhouse for the Performing Arts and a 2018 recipient of Margaret Jenkins Dance Company’s CHIME mentorship award. Foley has created works for Robert Moses’ KIN, the LINES Ballet Summer Program, the ODC Dance Jam, and more. Bellwether Dance Project has performed in Push/fest, The Concept Series, DROVE V, SPF10, WestWave, at Grace Cathedral (San Francisco Movement Arts Festival), the SEAM concert, and at the Hosfelt Gallery with visual artist Julie Chang. Bellwether Dance Project looks forward to their inaugural home season April 4-6 at ODC Theater.
