Led by AXIS' Artistic Director Marc Brew & Company Dancers
August 10th-12th, Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, 1428 Alice Street, 3rd Floor, Oakland, CA
"this is the beginning of something immense, truly powerful ... which enhances our existence and shines a light on the beautiful differences with which we were all built" — 2016 Summer Intensive Student
Each day, Choreography and Performance students will begin with a technique class learning material and dance sequences to develop technique, memory, coordination and movement qualities and dynamics. Students will use these skills to develop their own choreographic interests, investigate their own practice, and gain insight into the tasks and skills used to devise the work in the company’s current repertoire. The works created will be rehearsed and developed with a performance opportunity to present the work as part of a sharing for peers and friends of the AXIS Dance Company community.
Classes are led by AXIS Dance Company's newly-appointed Artistic Director, Marc Brew, and AXIS Company Dancers.
The following three modules will be explored throughout the week and dance artists can register for 1, 2, or all 3 modules (discounts available for enrolling in multiple modules):
Module 1: Improvisation & Site Specific Work, August 7-9th
Module 2: Choreography & Performance, August 10-12th
Module 3: Teacher Training for Dancers, Professionals, and Educators, August 14-16th
