GAGA for PEople with BOBBI JENE SMITH

Location: Malonga Arts Center, 1428 Alice St. (intersection of 14th and Alice in downtown Oakland) 

Description:  Gaga is a new way of gaining knowledge & self-awareness through your body. The class provides a framework for discovering & strengthening your body while adding to your imagination. It takes place in a room with no mirrors, accompanied by music, in comfortable clothes, each person with themselves & others. 

This class is open to individuals of all levels, backgrounds, & abilities.

Bobbi Jene Smith is from Ames, Iowa. She is an alumna of the Juilliard School, North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and currently teaching GAGA at Stanford University. For the past nine years she has been creating and dancing in Tel Aviv, Israel. From 2005-2014 she was a member of the Batsheva Dance Company. She has worked and collaborated with a variety of artists around the world. She is a certified GAGA teacher and has taught the repertory of Ohad Naharin in school and universities around the US since 2005.
