We at AXIS Dance Company are lucky to have such talented, enthusiastic individuals interns at our office. We've landed yet another great intern in Nathan Forster, just before our 2015 Home Season.
Below, Nathan shares a little about himself:
After growing up in the Berkeley public school system, studying Marine Ecology and Evolutionary Biology for 13 years (kindergarten counts), and graduating from Drew University in New Jersey in Theatre Arts, I am now interning with AXIS Dance Company. My love of dance emerged during college on the East Coast while I worked towards my degree focusing in Lighting Design, Choreography, and Arts Administration. Combined with my strong belief that the arts have a key role in social change and community action, it only made sense to come to AXIS.
Before arriving at AXIS Dance Company, I’ve had the absolute joy of working with a variety of other performing arts companies and non-profits. I started in the Spring of 2013 with Battery Dance Company in New York City in development, moved on to intern in theatre production at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival summer 2014, and have spent the past year interning in marketing with the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. I briefly stepped outside the performance world into Arts Advocacy while I was an office intern with Morris Arts focusing in social media and assisting their director of public programs.
I am thrilled to take my first steps after graduating from university with AXIS Dance Company. I am excited by their deep commitment to engaging with the community and the company’s powerful performance work. I am incredibly thankful for the chance to learn from and assist AXIS Dance Company in fulfilling its mission for social change.
