Exploring AXIS

Last night I attended the second AXIS Explored event: a dance workshop led by the dancers and Marc Brew, who taught a few moves from  his new piece Divide. We were invited to experiment with our own movements and then work with others to create our own short piece. For a non-dancer, (and despite initially being out of my comfort zone!) it was quite a fun experience and a great way to learn about process by doing.

The open rehearsal two weekends ago was also really amazing. Marc talked about inspiration from the art world that factored into his thinking about choreography. Really cool stuff.

There's another AXIS Explored event after the Sunday matinee, a dance talk, that will be more objective (AXIS personnel will not be present).

Based on how rewarding the past two events have been, I'd recommend it highly if you can make it.
