AJ Guevara | COMPANY Dancer

AJ Guevara is a dancer, circus artist, and educator previously hailing from New York City. He earned his BFA in Dance & Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University, and has additionally trained at the Accademia dell’ Arte (Arezzo, Italy) and the American Dance Festival as a scholarship recipient. 

He has had the privilege of performing the works of Bill T. Jones, Jodi Melnick, Rachel Erdos, Walter Matteini, Joshua L. Peugh, Robert J. Priore, Paul Gordon Emerson, Thomas Noone, and Isabel Bustos Romoleroux, among others. He is currently an artistic collaborator with chrisbelldances, The Nash Conspiracy, The Borscht Collective, Eryc Taylor Dance, Cirque du Nuit and Company|E. 

His work with Company|E, who works in partnership with the US State Department, has allowed him to teach, perform and choreograph as a Cultural Ambassador in Israel, Cuba, The United Kingdom, Uruguay, Palestine, as well as multiple engagements at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. 

AJ is also a dedicated advocate for community action. He has worked closely with Gibney, ETD Outreach, and other organizations that bring awareness to social justice, equity, and inclusivity.

He is ecstatic and humbled for his first season with AXIS Dance!
